About Sophie
Sophie is a Minneapolis-based textile & fiber artist, professional plant lady, and former science teacher, who finds healing in creating and sharing art. Her art is made from sustainable and recycled textiles and fibers, showcasing her commitment to both artistic expression and environmental consciousness. Materials vary as each piece is completely unique and handmade.
How It Started
Sophie's journey as an artist began as a means of healing from the traumatic experiences she faced during the 2020 uprising. Her first piece was creating using the very pillowcase she carried on the day she nearly lost her life. This transformation of the pillowcase into a work of art became a powerful symbol of resilience, personal growth, and the ability to find beauty amidst adversity. It served as a testament to Sophie's strength and her determination to reclaim her narrative through artistic expression. Sophie's art became not only a means of healing for herself but also a source of inspiration and empowerment for others who had experienced similar traumas during that tumultuous period.

Sophie draws inspiration from her deep connection with finding healing in nature and her fascination with Earth's treasures. Through her art, Sophie aims to capture the essence of these natural phenomena and to bring their captivating beauty into people's lives, promoting healing and grounding. She has always had a passion for nature, rocks, gemstones, and living things on Earth. With her passion and curiosity with nature has Sophie has also acquired a rare plant collection with over 150 tropical plants.
